Hamarikyu Garden (Tokyo)

Japan / Tokio / Tokyo / Hama-rikyu-teien, 1-1
 park, garden, interesting place

Former Tokugawa Shogun family hunting grounds - now a beautiful bayside park in Tokyo
The park represents the Edo period Shioiri-no-ike pond, and two duck ponds (the latter had channels to which ducks were scared in, to be caught by nets). The Shioiri pond is designed to feature a landscape that changes along with the ebb and low of the tides; these are the only tidewater ponds which still remain in Tokyo.

  • Nice place to walk around, but the park itself is surprisingly unkept - grass and such is not that well cared for. But a great place to check out nonetheless.
