Salpausselkä sanatorium is one of the few tuberculosis sanatoriums in Finland - located in Nastola, 9 mile east from Lahti. As a sanatorium, designed in 1923 by Wäino Palmqvist, late Art Nouveau styled main building served until the 1960s.
After that, until 1980s, it served as a hospital for a children who´s central nervous system was damaged. Interesting enough, during the Winter War (1939-40) this building was a 9th military hospital and after that, a part of 8th military hospital (300 surgical beds). Nowadays, all the buildings are privately owned.
