Metal Man Day Markers

Ireland / Waterford / Tramore /
tower, sculpture, interesting place, daymark / daybeacon

Famous structure to guide ships, only two others left in world today. A cast metal man standing on one of three tall pillars, right arm raised and pointing out to sea. These three pillars stand on the west of Tramore Bay, two on the east - guiding ships eastward to the mouth of the Suir River estuary and on to Waterford - rather than into the similar looking Tramore bay - and tragedy.

Legend has it the Metal Man chants "Keep out, keep out, good ships from me, for I am the rock of misery".
