Wat Pratat Doi Kam TH วัดพระธาตุดอยคำ

Wat Phra That Doi Kham or Wat Suwannabanpot, วัดพระธาตุดอยคำ หรือ วัดสุวรรณบรรพต, is located in Tambon Mae Hia, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Google Maps shows the location of the temple to be Tambon Suthep (ตำบลสุเทพ), but the temple plaque says Tambon Mae Hia.

The History of Doi Kham Temple

Doi Kham Temple was built in the period of Queen Jammathewee of Lamphun by both of her sons in B.E. 1230 (A.D. 687). It contains relics of Lord Buddha, temple hall (Phra Wihan) Mense and a stucco Buddha. its old name was Suwannabanpot Temple, but the local villagers like to call it "Doi Kham" temple. According to its history, it was a deserted temple with its broken treasure-house such as Pra Rod Luang which is made of ancient sandstone its gold and ig size and Pra Sam HOm (soil Buddha Image). There once was an Emerald Buddha image belonging to Queen Jammathewee, that was about 5 inches high; it is believed to have been taken to a house and it is impossible to bring it back for worship.
The temple has been renovated since B.E. 2524 {A.D. 1981) with renovation of the pagoda (chedi) and the main Buddha Image "Lord Buddha Napee Seeping". In B.E. 2538 (A.D. 1995) the statue of Queen Jammaathewee was built in back of the temple yard and there was a religious commerative ceremony on 19th Febfuary B.E. 2538 (A.D. 1995).
The pagoda (chedi) is built in Northern style and the pinnacle was done as part of the temple's work of art.
