A JR East train station located in central Shibukawa City, Gunma, Japan. One can get on the Joetsu Line or the Agatsuma Line from this station, which stretches roughly north to south.
The station opened on July 1, 1921.
LAYOUT:
The entrance to Shibukawa Station is situated on the west side. Access from the east side is obtained via a footbridge at the north end of the station. In addition to the main station office and the stationmaster's office, there is a View Plaza office at which travel information and advice can be obtained.
PLATFORM INFORMATION:
* Platform 1: Trains bound in the direction of Minakami, Niigata, and Naganohara leave from platform 1. This is a side platform.
* Platforms 2 and 3: Trains bound in the direction of Takasaki and Tokyo leave from platforms 2 and 3. These form an island platform.
The platforms are connected by a pedestrian underpass.
OUTSIDE THE STATION BUILDING:
From the bus terminal, local buses leave bound for Takasaki Station, Maebashi Station, Ikaho, Nakanojō Station, Numata direction, and other destinations. Long distance buses leave for Tokyo, Osaka, and other destinations. A taxi stand is located straight out from the main door of the station. In the center of the sidewalk portion of the rotary is a large map of Japan; there is a sculpture in the center of the map, at the point where Shibukawa (the geographical center of Japan) is located.
