Dunstable is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. First settled in 1656 by Edward Tyng the town was incorporated in 1673 and takes its name from Dunstable in Bedfordshire, England. The population was 3,179 at the 2010 census.
Originally the town was over two hundred square miles, including the towns of Dunstable, Tyngsborough, Pepperell, Townsend Massachusetts as well as Hudson, Nashua and Hollis New Hampshire.
As the town population grew it was subdvided into smaller communities with those areas becoming independent towns. The town's final borders were set with the final establishment of the Massacusetts-New Hampshire border in 1740.
