Paniai Lake is the best and most beautiful lake in the World which is represented by 157 'lake owners' countries in the world on the World Lake Conference in India on November 30, 2007.
Paniai lake which covers about 14 500 hectares which region was located at a height, which is about 1700 meters above sea level. Nevertheless, Lake Paniai store various types of freshwater fish and shrimp. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), tilapia fish (Oreochromis mossambicus), carp / carp fish (Cyprinus carpio), black nine fish, eels and fish (synbranchus) are among the species of fish that can be found in this lake. While the rainbow fish (rainbow / Melanotaenia ayamaruensis) is Paniai Lake biota that often sought after by the fishermen and hobbies ornamental fish because of high economic value. If lucky, on Lake Paniai tourists can see the shrimp endemic to Papua, which has started rare now, namely 'cheating shrimp' (Cherax albertisii), because it has a claw shrimp / crab as big flops.

  • I agree with you. It is really a very wonderful lake. I used to cross the lake to Obano and Kebo. Once some friends and I swam in the lake at the foot of Bobonaro hill riding a koma ( woodtrunk boat ). After swimming we would go home riding the koma, and at that time the waves were big enough. They hit our koma, made it sink. One of my friends was drowned and died there because of cramp as the water was very cold. It was really a sorrowful memory for me. Anyone who can give more information about Enarotali and its surrounding I would like to say nagayawere. I used to be a teacher in Badawou village, Enarotali for two years 1963 - 1965. Koyaaa.....
