  • This pilgrimage village is located in a side valley (The Parvati Valley) off the main valley of Kullu. Manikaran is a small village famous for its boiling hot springs where you can often see pilgrims cooking rice and lentils in cloth pouches. The village is perpetually covered by a hovering cloud of vapours rising from these springs. It also has a Sikh shrine (Gurudwara) and a Ram temple. This village is also the starting point for the popular Pin Parvati Pass trek leading into the neighbouring high altitude cold desert region of Spiti - a total walk of about 11 days. As you climb higher the lush green of the Parvati valley slowly begins to dissapear replaced by high barren grey mountains above the tree line.
