saktipur is now booming village of murshidabad.it has now one +2 school,one girls hisgh school with huge amount of student,my great grandfater late promath nath sarkar who was founder headmater of saktipur kumar mahim chandra institution.now this school is very much well decorated and quality of student are so high ,this village is basically bussiness area of british priod ,we know our nearest village name as dopukuria which was a bussiness point of britis period ,Ganesh ganger bazar. last two years ago i was visited that place and watched a weight machine of british ruler.this area basiacaly buddhist area if we see the Niharer bat palce which was land mark of brithish period.now we can also see a statue of Goutam buddha. This is the area under beldanga II block consisting 11 gram panchayats .Geograpahcally this crossed by holy river ganga.it has so many temple one is poramtala with a land mark 200 years old tree and one is bhattabari shib mondir this mandir with ancint shiblinga more than 300 yrs ago.this family consisting a huge family member and previouly it was known by "Headmaster er bari" my great grand father Late Promotha nath Sarkar who was head master of shijgram high school and their sons R.P. Bhatta,M.Bhatta.G.P.Bhatta,S.P.Bhatta .was also serve the nation.In our house "Bhatta Bari" we are celebarte "Shiva Ratri UtsaB" every year with a huge number of villger.

  • Saktipur is an ancient village lying on the right bank of the river Bhagirathi. The reference of the village is seen in a tamrapatra given to a Branchmin by Raja Lakshman Sena of Sen Dynasty , in the Hindu period , jut before his fall in the hands of the muslim marauders entering city of laskmanabati, taking the capital by storm , and driving the last Hindu monarch in his loin cloth , for his escape to Dacca. Thereafter Bengal fell in the hands of the muslim invaders. AD 1205 . Saktipur is a revenue village , has a post and telegraph office, an HS School, for girls and boys. The gentry of the village in the decade of 1960's, have migrated to Berhampore district headquarters or to Calcutta and beyond, for their survival , as the absentee landlordism , thanks to Barga andolan, has ended perpetually. I spend my childhood days in the village of Saktipur. But today , my playmates are on the wrognside of fifty or sixty . I have not visited the place since 1999. I know of Late Ram Prasad Bhattacharya, a teacher of the KMC Institution , Saktipur , who passed away in 2001. The Saktipur Village market which I saw forty years ago, is it still agog with life? I do not know. Today I am stationed in the collieries in Dhanbad, in the Jharkhand State, several hundred kms away from the childhood place. A . N. Bhattacharjee . IES.
