What is now the Clephan Building of De Montfort University was built in 1888 as a hosiery works. It is designed in the fine domestic revival style. It has terracotta sunflowers between the windows in tall Gothic arched panels. A feature of the building is the big corner oriel, with its flattened dome above and squat columns below.
