 water tower, interesting place

Built in 1913, on location of the old marketplace, the old watertower represents one of the oldest buildings of such kind in Croatia. It was built by engineers J. Funtak and Karlovski by J. Banheyer design. The watertower has an underground die-cut well and reservoir and an additional reservoir on the building's top. The old watertower is one of the most used motives of old Vukovar. Today the old watertower has a central place within the main square in front of the Danube hotel and the Town hall.
Together with the power plant built within the old hempen plant (1905) [www.hep.hr/ods/dp/povijestList.aspx?dp=vinkovci] comprises one of the earliest complete communal infrastructure systems in Croatia.
