The city of Helsinki founded Nikkilä Mental Hospital in Sipoo in 1914. Now the forer hospital area, renamed Eastern River Park,is the site of restored Art Nouveau-style apartments in the orginal park setting. It´s definitely worth taking a walk through the area!
In 2004, the former laundry was turned into a versatile cultural institute called Artborg 35. The building has workspace for artists, and art instruction is also provided there. The high-ceilinged laundry hall serves as a beautiful exhibition space in the summer.
