Shoreline is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 53,007 at the 2010 census, making it the 14th largest city in Washington.

Shoreline is one of Seattle's newest incorporated suburbs. It incorporated in 1995 out of fear of being annexed by Seattle, which would in turn result in Shoreline losing its school district, which is considered one of the best in the Seattle area. Shoreline was previously known as "Richmond Highlands" when it was an island of unincorporated King county.

Th city's name originates from a student at Lake City Elementary school's idea, stating that its borders went from Shore to Shore (Puget Sound to Lake Washington) and Line to Line (Seattle City limits @ 145 st to the county line @ 205 st). While Shoreline does in fact go line to line, its eastern border does not stretch to Lake Washington but instead stops at its boundary with Lake Forest Park, which is in most places is 25 AVE NE, despite its inaccuracy, the name stuck.

Shoreline's population has been increasing significantly in recent years largely due to residents of Seattle proper not being able to afford to live in the city any longer.
