The Museum was opened in Vladivostok in 1950.

Its numerous collections, such as awards, maps, charts, banners, uniforms, personal belongings, posters etc., are devoted to the history of the Russian Pacific Navy and are exposed in eleven rooms under following titles: development of the Far East, Petropavlovsk Defense, Russo-Japanese War 1904-1905, Civil war, Soviet Pacific Navy laying, Pacific Navy in the war with fascist Germany and Japan, Pacific Navy in a post-war period and at present, international activities of the Pacific Navy. Close to the Museum's building there is the Armoury Yard with various cannons, arms and equipment samples of 18-20th centuries. Memorial ship "Red Pennant", "S-56" submarine and Voroshilov Battery are the branches of the Museum
