It is a karstic lake found in the Dumre plateau, where 84 other natural lakes of the same origin are found. Merhoja lake is the deepest of all them, with the highest depth of 61 meters and a mean depth of 17 meters. Under 15 meters the water is sulphydric acid-containing. The lake has a surface of 65.5 ha, ranging the 3rd from all them and it is used for fishing and irrigation.
