  • Smailpur village is famous for Baba Santokh Nath jee and Daulat Nath, his marvellous temple/smadhi has been beautifully made by the villagers and other devotees, this temple is at the corner of Smailpur Talab wherein Baba jee has taken samadhi, the worship place of Baba can been seen anytime, but u can find many people take bath in the talab and take blessings of Baba Santhokh Nath. All devotees have good faith in Baba jee and whenever anybody leaves village, first of all he take blessings of baba jee and then he leaves the village. This village Talab is full of fish, which u cannot touch, but u can see. In this village various castes has been living and the village is well educated and social. This village is consisting of various mohallas like jogi mohalla, manhansa mohalla, mahashan mohalla, naiyan mohalla, ravi dass mohalla, tarkhan and lohar mohalla, panditan mohalla, and etc. etc. This village has beautiful temple known as Krishana temple, a masjid. village has a beautiful market, govt. higher secondary and primary school, Stadium, grid station, zim, govt. District Institute Educational Training Centre wherein 38 BN has been camping, the adjoining villages are meen charkan, meen sarkar, dasal, barjani, sarore, reor, khidian, dera, patti, raya suchani, badhori, birpur, etc.etc. This village has been celebrating Dipawali on the day and a sinj is being held where many pahalwans, atheletes and animals take part and show their performances. This sinj is being held under the dynamic guidance of senior citizens like Balwant Singh Manhas and his associates. Village has two towers of private companies, the condition of road from bd bari to smailpur and adjoining points is very bad and requires immediate intervention of higher auhroties I am writing here on seeing the name of Pt. Prem Nath Stadium Smailpur, I am a senior cricket player of village and after going thru the smailpur over net, the name of Baba Santokh Nath Jee has been deleted, because the land of the village of is Baba jee and our teams of village has been playing in the stadium for the last more than 40 years. Many tournaments of cricket is being held in the name of Baba Santokh Nath Jee and it is unfortunate that the name of baba jee has been deleted. I have been making many efforts to upgrade and promote sports actiities in the interest of new generations and also making efforts to stay away from drugs. A Sports and Environmental Council, Smailpur has recently been constituted under which a 15 members has been inducted to work in the interest of village. I am Secretary of the council, Shri Dilawar Singh is the President and Shri Balwant Singh, Sarpanch is the Advisor. All the above information is my personnel and collections of village senior citizens, if anybody injure from this, I may be forbidden. My personal submission is that if the village has been put on net, the history of the village must be uploaded.
  • Why the name of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra came into light, because he is a great son of Dogra Land, Duggar land has its own brilliant and unique history. It has given to veterans, academicians, social workers, philanthropists and leaders of calibre. The Hero's of Wars are Dogras, Dogras never deceive their country. This Smailpur soil had given births to various prominent persons like, Bragadier Zernail Singh, Krishan Smailpuri a when known dogri sangeet writer and various other dynamic personalities, Dogras has the capacity to face any consequences and prove their calibre. Dogras are always speak sweetly, the dogri is a well civilized language and anyone can learn from dogra, how can respect the others. Dogras are consisting of various castes and live brotherly and their relations with other religions are very cordial. The brief life history of Pt. Prem Nath is as detailed below: Prem Nath Dogra (Dogri: प्रेम नाथ डोगरा) was a leader from Jammu and Kashmir who worked for total integration of the state with India. He formed Praja Parishad party in 1947 along with Balraj Madhok and opposed policies of Shaikh Abdullah. He died on 20 march 1972. He was elected to the legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir many number of times. Duggar land has its own brilliant and unique history. It has given to veterans, academicians, social workers, philanthropists and leaders of calibre. Prominent among them has been Pt. Prem Nath Dogra. He was born in village Smailpur on 24 October 1884 in a brahmin family. He after schooling in a high school, graduated from Foreman College Lahore in 1908. Besides his academics he was prominent athlete also and won many prizes sports field. He served the state government, after joining as a Tehsildar, in various capacities and was even given the post of Lent Officer Incharge Bhaderwah Jagir of Maharaja and later because the Wazir Wazarat (Deputy Commissioner). He was very principled person and acted judiciously in dealing the problems, but on the accusation of not having dealt with Muslim Agitation in Kashmir valley severely, Though there was violence in other district of Kashmir valley when Muzaffarabad under control of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra remained free from any sort of agitation and people lived cordially. The vested interest then manipulated for his premature retirement. His retirement was a born to him as he got ample time to interact with the masses to know the issues and problems. On social side he founded Harijan Sewa Mandal to help upliftment of Harijans, but orthodoxies were irked atthis point of act dauntingly on march he then gave birth to BRAHMAN MYKHYA MANDAL to help eradicate social evils in Brahman society. Besides he emerged leading member of Dogra Sadar Sabha, was elected member of Jammu Municipality and its vice president for a decade till 1949. All this gave him prominence and in 1945 elections he was elected to the Assembly (Praja Sabha). He during 1963-64 was the Sangchalak of RSS for J&K. Under the stewardship as RSS Sangchalak he lead to carry out herculine jobs for the organizing of the relief camps for the refugees from West Pakistan and uprooted people due to Pak invasion during 1947. His services and help to clearance operation by forces added colours to his feather and he was and our popular personality amongst masses. The then Prime Minister of J & K State, Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, jealous of his popularity arrested him in 1949 on concocted blames but Jammuites agitation forced release. All efforts failed of the government to help Sheikh Mohd Abdullah to dominate and contain that Pt. Dogra was not elected President of J&K Praja Parishad (1950-1964) and also remained President after its merger with Jana Sangh till 1967 then got himself relieved from there. He was staunch believer of democracy in real sense and fought for uniformity all round the country under the slogan “Ek Nishan; Ek Vidhan; Ek Pradhan” and to give full unquestionable integrity to the country. The agitation to achieve above motives attracted jail for him for nine months. Though detained in Kashmir he was elected member Assembly in 1957, then also in 1962 and 1967 from Jammu city, North. He proved to be a great parliamentarian and earned praises of his opponents like then Chief Minister Ghulam Mohd, Bakshi and G. M Sadiq. He even rose to the level to hold the President Post of All India Jana Sangh for the year 1955-56. He lead the Jana Sangh Group in the legislative Assembly. To sum up Mr. Dogra has proved to be true and faithfully soldier of the soil and every one is proud of him. His era ultimately came to an end on 20 March 1972.
  • Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Stadium, Smailpur is under construction, but the construction work requires immediate attention of Constructing Agency, the pavilion of the stadium is very small and there are two rooms, bath room and toilet has been upgraded by way of fixing of tiles and the windows are properly fixed. But there is an alarming dangerous situation, because the gutter for the toilet is an open box and there is a filthy water in it and having very bad foul smell, which is not in the interest of sports persons and others. If any body fell in it or made any criminal activities, no body can find out there, so there is immediate requirement to put there concrete shelves, so that untoward incidents could be avoided. There is no centenary system in this pavilion and there is a need to make centenary system available. CONDITIONS OF THE STADIUM : 1. The entry/exit gates are very week and one gate has been damaged. The gates and the ground and out field should be manned by deploying Chowkidars and groundsmen, so that proper attention should be given. 2. There is a social NGO which is under registration, known as Baba Santokh Nath Environmental and Sports Council, Smailpur under the Secretaryship of Shri Sham Lal, a veteran cricket player. The council may be allowed to look after the stadium, so that the property of the govt. could be got maintained from the appropriate authorities. 3. There is no sewerage and drainage system provided to the stadium, during the rainy season, the ground could be seen just like a stagnated pond. To outflow the stagnated water, some holes had been made to the walls of the stadium to get the water out flowed from the stadium. This grassy gound should be made healthy available to the beneficiaries/users of the Kandi Area. 4. The stadium may be got completed and may please be handed over to sports council and thereafter may please be allowed the council of the Smailpur to look after and save the precious properties of the beneficiaries/users.
  • The residents/new generation of the Kandi Area are humbly requested to use the newly constructed stadium morning/even walking and made yourselves as healthy and wealthy. The stadium may please be used properly and not misused. Some boys are using this place for illegal activities, they should not be supported and the users/beneficiaries are supposed to stop them from bad activities. This place may be made conducive for sports as well as senior residents and also for new generations. I humbly request the sports person as well as all the users to use this facilities and misusers may not be supported. If anybody is misusing the stadium, please call to Police Helpline No.100 or nearest police station.
  • 64th National School Games (Cricket) organised by Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu were played at Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Stadium at Smailpur, where six matches were played from different State teams like Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Telegna, Punjab, CBSE and Chandigarh. Fur prequarter finals were played and two quarter finals were also played. Shri Sham Lal and Vishwa Nand Chalotra veteran cricket players have requested to the organisers to make one cement turf with net may please be provided so that the players can practice before start of the matches.
  • Khello India events were also held at Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Stadium, Smailpur wherein more than 20 teams participated in the various teams events. The talented boys and girls from rural areas participated in the khelo india organised by the Stte Govt. and funded by the Govt. of India. The teams were provided light refreshments which were very meagre amount and the sanctioned amount for each participant was not incurred by the Organisers. The stadium of the area was ignored by the State Govt. and the events are being held regularly. I on behalf of the senior players request the State Govt\ Agencies that before starting any events, some staff like coaches, grounds man and chowkidars may please be deputed to the Stadium at Smailpur or may be recruited from the Kandi bellt areas of District Samba. During the visit of the Deputy Commissioner, Ms. Sarita Chauhan, she has visited the stadium during khelo India and the stadium got whitewash in some stairs which is uncompleted and requires immediate attention of the State Authorities. I request to the Hon,ble DC Mam to kindly pay kind attention towards the development of the Stadium. The JKCA has not taken up its possession and is under execution for the last many years. JKCA is requested to kindly take up the possession and got immediate renovation/repairs of the stadium.
