Farm purchased by Stephan S. Sorokin in 1953 while he was spiritual leader of the organization of Sons of Freedom (Freedomites) misleadingly named "Union of Christian Communities and Brotherhood of Reformed Doukhobors." Most members lived in Krestova village, north of Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. Their organization title is misleading because they were not Doukhobors. This ranch was intended to be the coordination location from which this branch of Sons of Freedom were to migrate from B.C. Canada to South America — Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina or Chile — which never occurred, nor did attempts to move back to Russia. S.S. Sorokin died in 1984. The farm is still owned by the Sorokin family who remain in Krestova, B.C., Canada.
