The Black Boy Inn, Caernarfon, has been a retreat for weary travellers for centuries. Built circa 1522, it is one of the oldest inns in North Wales.

It is located in Northgate Street, with walls of up to one and a half metres thick, and has four Inn signs each showing a 'black buoy' on one side and a 'black boy' on the other.

The name is believed to come from a 'black buoy' which existed in the harbour in the early days of the Inn. Later, the place became the local fishermen's favourite drinking place and the name of ‘black boy’ probably comes from this later period.
