Look up The Corfu Channel Incident. In 1946 British warships asserting the right of innocent passage through this channel were bombarded by Albanian fortifications. This was considered one of the first Cold War actions. Later two British ships were damaged by Albanian mines. Britain was awarded damages by an International Court. Britain cancelled negotiations for diplomatic recognition of Albania and did not grant such recognition for almost another fifty years.
