Duties of the Ministry of Interior affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Ministry of Interior affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the central administrative body of the Republic of Kazakhstan managing system of law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, coordinating cooperation between law enforcement bodies in maintaining public safety in the Republic of Kazakhstan and participating in development of state policy in the field of legislation. The Ministry does its activity in accordance to the Constitution and Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Decrees of the President and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and other legislative documents, international agreements and duties of the Republic of Kazakhstan.


The duties of law enforcement bodies:


1. To protect social order and maintain public safety, including emergencies and military situations
2. To inform, reveal and prevent criminal and administrative offences, to organize criminal investigations and search for criminals
3. To organize preliminary investigations, inquiries and administrative works within its competencies permitted by laws
4. To reveal and prevent a neglect and criminal offences among minors
5. To hold state control in maintaining road safety
6. To protect state and other buildings, physical persons, convoy arrested and convicted, participate in preventing terrorist acts and freeing hostages
7. To carry out passport and visa regime and control on how foreign nationals and national without citizenship follow the rules of staying in Kazakhstan
8. To carry out other specific tasks in the system of territorial defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan


In military situations

9-1) To participate in quarantine, sanitary and nature protection measures held in cooperation with other countries including emergencies and to assist to other nature protection bodies in tackling poaching.

9-2) To do licensing in accordance to Kazakhstan laws

9-3) To organize regime and protection measures in the top secret objects and territories of the Republic of Kazakhstan

10) To carry out international cooperation in issues related to the law enforcement bodies
