island, atoll

Manuae Atoll (or Scilly), is the westernmost of the Leeward Islands chain in the Society Islands. It is administered by the municipality of Maupiti.
It is not to be confused with a similar Manuae island in the Cook Islands chain.
Manuae's lagoon contains a number of rare species, and thus has been a nature reserve since 1992. The beaches are home to the endangered Green Sea Turtle, and the lagoon contains large oyster beds with 3-4 million oysters.
