Blakely is a city in Early County, Georgia, for which it also serves as the County Seat. The City of Blakely has a total area of 17.6 square miles (45.6 km²), of which 17.5 square miles (45.2 km²) is land, per the United States Census Bureau. Blakely's population in the 2000 census was 5,696 people.

Blakely was incorporated October 24, 1870 and was named for US Navy Captain Johnston Blakely (1781-1814) of North Carolina. An Irish emigrant and the most successful American naval officer in the War of 1812, Blakely and his ship, U.S.S. Wasp vanished and were lost at sea somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean.

Nicknamed "The Peanut Capital of the World" because of the number of peanut products produced here, Blakely's Courthouse Square features a peanut monument saluting the local peanut production. The closure of a plant in 2009 has curtailed this production and the growth of the local economy.

Blakely attractions include Kolomoki Mounds Historic Park, which features several Indian mounds built by Swift Creek and Weeden Island Indians in the 12th and 13th century. Also in Blakely is the Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge, built in 1891.
