Albany is a city in Albany Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. The population was 2,561 at the 2010 census.

The Township, was settled in 1863, and organized in 1868. The city of Albany was incorporated in 1890, and reincorporated in 1958. The site was first called the Schwinghammer Settlement and then Two River Mission Settlement of Two Rivers. It was renamed Albany and platted in 1872 when the Great Northern Railway came in 1871 and built a depot a half mile away.
