Poonch (also referred to as Punch) is the capital of Poonch district, in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located near the Line of Control – the de facto border with Pakistan's Azad Kashmir. It is a very old city and has found mention in many old books, for example, Kalhan's Rajtarangini. It has been ruled by different dynasties including the Loharas, Dogras etc.
