  • Bankura is a beautiful district of West Bengal. This district is famous for her Terrakota work, Baluchori Sharee and other handicrafts. The economy of Bankura is mainly agri-based. Paddy, Potato etc are the main cash crops. A significant portion of the district is covered with forest mainly Shal. The main visiting spots are Susunia Hills(Small fall), Bishnupur(Rashmancho etc & terrakota works), Mukutmanipur(Dam), Jayrambati-Kamarpukur(Birth place of Ramakrishna&SaradaMa). Industrial belts in the district are Borjora(Heavy Industry), Mejia, Bankura, Bishnupur etc.

I love Bankura because We inaugurated(opend)P.H.E.Bankura Division at Natungange,shifting from Rajbhavan North Gate in the year 1967.Under the leadership Executive Engineer Mr.Thakur,Amaya Ghose,Arun Mukherjee,Jayanta Banerjee & myself.My first love "Nilanjana"(name changed)was born at Natun Chati.Village people were very simple they love to eat "Dingla"& Posto,this is the 'Aka'part of Bankura.'Baka'(hate) part of bankura is "Nilanjana" my first love deserted forever,I transfered from Bankura to the then Calcutta,City people keep themself distant from other's for reason unknown!!It should be a matter of research,wheather due to the climatic reason ,soil&/or water, the female members(at that time)were the victim of mental depression,hormone imbalance for which Bankura was the breeding place for Nemphomanea patient.
