Al-Shuhadah (Martyrs) Square/Gardens (Khartoum)

These used to be an extension to the presidential palace gardens, however these gardens are now privately owned. In 1964, and during the last days of president Abboud, 17 protesters (against the government policies in Southern Sudan) were shot and killed at this location. It was later named after them.
