This Canadian Island of about 165 acres is in the Navy Group, close to the little town of Gananoque. The whole island was originally used as farmland by the Cross family. In 1894 the land was purchased by 3 partners for $4000, and setup as a "camp" for family members. In 1954 it was purchased by Richard Fallon and partially subdivided. The main property of about 93 acres was put into protection with The Heritage Foundation and Parks Canada in 1992, to preserve the land for future generations. The main property was sold outside the family in 2008.

Comment to "Jimmy", not sure where you got your information. Mine is that Staves are part of a rum barrel, and Bung an island beside is the stopper. There are many owners of the island, certainly not all Canadian. Comment to Smith. I can assure you none of the original family owns Stave. I think I am in a position to know.
