  • I spent over a year working in this little WSA. I hated the winter and the tons of snow and it seemed like you were never warm. However, in summer, they had wild strawberries growing in the area. My office was in the little IMF building, where they did the maintenance on the SRAM missiles. Anybody remember, Sgt Noser, Jewett, Spiro, Taylor, Sahrhage, Matthews, and too many others to remember. Was I ever that young and naive! So young and so dumb, just like most Lts.
  • I can second the notion about being cold, Pease had the worst facilities of any AF base I was stationed at (the dorms were atrocious with inadequate hot water heaters). The M&I's heating was OK for the offices, but the maintenance bays had garage doors that let in winter air like you wouldn't believe (try maintaining a B43 in weather like that). I also worked storage and handling, and knew Lt. Drain and a few other of the individuals he mentions when I was there from Jan '81 to Jun '83. Lot's of hard work and virtually no recognition for our efforts, other than knowing we did our part during the Cold War. Too many names to mention, but I worked a lot of great 463's including Jerry Cecil, Dennis Wilson, Mike Doughty, Larry Tener, Mark Peterson, Ed Spiers, Rich Greenwood, Bob Click, Caroline Pridemore (Munn), Kim Coley, Al Bumpas, Mike Bennett, Sean Flaherty, Juan Gonzalez, Jay Vonallmen, Norm Garceau, Donny Reynolds, John McGrath, Dan Mozier, Len Manning, etc.
  • It's a small world. I was stationd with Hank two other times (Murted & Barksdale). I was at Pease twice; once in the North bay and once in the South. I got a chance to take my family to visit the Pease Air Park a few years back. Got a chance to walk the perimeter to see the back of the M&I. It looked the same, but nobody's home. The best part of Pease was having Bill Wahl as a boss. Other names not mentioned: Dick Smith, Ray DesJardins, Dan Glover, Earl Wise, Dane David, Leroy Pfenningworth, Steve Purdle, Leon Gwiazdowski, Steve Haynes, Pat Walsh, and that insane guy named Jim Cozine!
  • Stationed at Pease for 1yr.2mos.Jan.1974-march1975.utapao thailand 1 yr. & back to pease until sept.1977. TDY to Goose Bay also. I was SP and worked flight line & weapons storage area. Seems like yesterday!
  • Pease was my first duty station in 1975 and I loved it up there! Worked with Tom Rouser, Leroy Pfenningworth, Ray DesJardins, Pat Droge, Pete Castine... Taylor was our NCOIC and I ate at Gilley's Diner quite often!
