Burgas/Sarafovo international airport is one of the three largest Bulgarian airports (as well as Sofia and Varna). The airport has served 1,936,853 in 2008. It is allso important freight hub (Freight: 1,465 tonnes in 2008. There is project for new terminal, that will be opened in the year 2011. The airport is concessioned by the German airport operator "Fraport AG" (www.fraport.com).
One of the main characteristics of the airport is seasonality of the passengers traffic. Its due to the touristic season at the Black sea resorts that last fot only 4-5 mounts in the summer.
