In 1974, General Electric moved its corporate headquarters from 570 Lexington Avenue in New York City to this 68.79 acre site in Fairfield. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the headquarters complex features two, three story office buildings, connected by an underground garage, comprising a total of 606,068 sq. ft., and known as the East Building and the West Building. A four story building constructed in 1984 is known as the Guest House. The Guest House contains 28 guest rooms, conference areas and dining facilities. Over 900 employees work at the headquarters complex.
