Robert Riddle-Black lived at these two addresses for the majority of his life.
Robert was given the Oscar on the behalf of Templar Film Studios for the best production in the 'Short Subject Live Action' category in the 1961 Acamdemy Awards.
This was given for the documentary film "Seawards the Great Ships", which told what life was like working in the Clydeside shipbuilding industry.
Robert built and lived in the southmost of the two selected houses for the last 13 years of his life, selling the other to cover the cost. He died in January 2002 and the Oscar is now safely on display in the Helensburgh home of one of his three daughters.
