This road was designed for the Stage Coach that left Santa Barbara to go over the hill and up North. The graded rise of the road with steps purposefully made to give horses a rest as they climbed makes this a perfect bike path to climb the hill.
After riding up, take the highway down for long gentle descent that makes for a very rewarding ride. Stop at In-Out for cheap cheeseburger reward.
