University of Sheffield Arts Tower (Sheffield)

The Arts Tower at the University of Sheffield is famed for its 'up and over' paternoster lifts.

The tower is the tallest building in Sheffield, though it will be stripped of that title when the St Paul's Tower is completed in 2010, though there are no taller planned university towers planned thus this could stay Britain's tallest university building for a long time.

It is currently being re-clad and refurbished.

This building is a half scale replica of the Seagram Building in New York City.

Rumour has it that the Arts Tower has sunk half a foot and has slid down-hill by a metre since completion in 1965.
