Corfu Shell Museum
The beautiful world of the deep

The Corfu Shell Museum is a private initiative of the diver and collector Mr. Napoleon Sagias. Mr. Sagias lived in Australia for more than 20 years and shell collection was his hobby. He used to travel with his team to the Indian and the Pacific Ocean diving and collecting mainly shells. In 1989, he decided to move back with his family to Greece, to his hometown Corfu and establish the Corfu Shell Museum.

The Museum contains many thousands of impressive and rare species from most seas of the planet and possesses one of the biggest and most complete shell collections in Europe. It contains shells, fossils, sponges, corals, stuffed fish, sharks and shark teeth, lobsters, crabs, sea urchins, snakes and more from the Indian and Pacific Ocean, and also from the Mediterranean Sea. The exhibits are mainly from the personal collection of Mr Sagias, which is enriched constantly, but also from donations made to the museum.
