Trois-Rivières

The name of Trois-Rivières (three rivers) was given because the first french explorators thought that the delta of the St-Maurice river, which is splitted by islands, where 3 rivers converging. Established in 1634 by Le Sieur de Laviolette, first ment as a commercial outpost for fur trading.
