The name of the project is the abbreviation of words TArtaruga MARina (marine turtles)
It is the conservation project helping to protect marine turtles from ocean water pollution but the observation of the way how this scientific facility is organized may be disappointing for some of the visitors, because giant turtiles are located in small swimming pools surrounded by low fences and visitors of the project center can easily touch animals, so it looks more like contact zoo

  • Sea Turtles Project or "projeto TAMAR" in portuguese. It's an institution responsible for insuring the reproduction of sea turtles. In Praia do Forte they have tanks with adult turtles and other sea creatures. There to make people aware and educate them about sea turtles.
