Lago de As Pontes. This artificial lake is 5 kilometers long and has a maximum depth of 206 meters. It was created by filling up the old open-pit mine, from which lignite, often referred to as brown coal, or Rosebud coal had been mined and fed to the adjacent coal power plant. The filling up process started in 2007 by re-routing the river Eume. Thanks to the waters fed by the Eume and to copious precipitation, the lake reached its current full capacity in 2012. A small beach was created on the lakeside.
