Sara translates as "Yellow".
Originally an island with a Russian Naval station (1800 - 1843). In 1809, used as a refuge by the population of Lenkoran when it was attacked by Persian troops. In 1900s the island grew into a peninsula, and then into a strip of land, connected to the mainland by a dam between Bol'shoy Kyzylagach Bay and Malyi Kyzylagach Bay.
