The City of Derry Rugby Football Club is a rugby club, formed in 1881 in Derry currently playing Junior rugby union. The club's purpose built facility at Judges Road, shares this name and is situated just outside Strathfoyle amidst a beautiful countryside setting. The club is Derry's premier rugby club. In December 2001, the club was involved in a controversial appeal, involving a £4,000 fine and the deduction of 8 points after fielding an ineligible player[2]. This resulted in the club being relegated from the AIB Division Two. The club has since struggled. In March 2007 the club hosted a youth project that saw 13 different primary schools compete.[3]. Following last season's relegation battle, the club has appointed a new coach in Neil Stewart and he has signalled his intention to improve the club's fortunes and has introduced a number of new faces
