Roslyn Café

USA / Washington / Roslyn / West Pennsylvania Avenue, 201
 restaurant, cafe, TV location

An eclectic eatery that serves familiar American fair with a flair, located in Roslyn, WA. Owned by Bret and Theresa Alexander, Roslyn Cafe was first opened in 1978 by local resident Kim McJury as a bohemian café and local gathering place. Kim's easy-going nature led to the creation of the mural, painted in 1985 by artist Don O'Connor, that adorns the side of the building. The mural and the cafe achieved international fame when they appeared regularly (1990-95) on the critically acclaimed television series Northern Exposure. In the spring of 2004, the establishment underwent a restoration by its present owners.

An interesting trivia note about the infamous Oasis mural on the NE face of the building: on television it read as "Roslyn's Cafe", when in reality the apostrophe "s" was a paper cutout affixed to the wall for the show. The original mural reads "Roslyn Cafe".
