Abbadia di Fiastra. L'Abbazia Cistercense di S.Maria di Chiaravalle di Fiastra,is considered the most important abbey flourishing in Piceno and is one of the most valuable and best preserved of Cistercian architecture in Italy. The delicate beauty of the natural landscape, the rolling hills, the green plains and a lush forest form a stunning backdrop to this architectural jewel of the XII century, created by the wisdom of the monks who worked more with the spirit than with hands. For nearly three centuries, the monks led a quiet life nell'Abbazia and industrious. True to the Benedictine motto "Ora et labora", which pointed in prayer and work in the fundamental aspects of monastic life banished from their idleness, the enemy of the soul, and worked tirelessly in the service of God and society.
Today they number about 14 monks.
the Abbey is located in the Natural Reserve Park of ABBADIA DI FIASTRA.
