Manam Island

Manam is an inhabited island located in the Bismarck Sea across the Stephan Strait from the northeast coast of mainland Papua New Guinea. Following a major volcanic eruption in November 2004, the majority of the inhabitants were evacuated to mainland Papua New Guiena, and in 2007 the government allocated land for their resettlement. It is 1,807 meters tall.
