Priozersk (drevnerus. Korella, Swed. Kexholm, Fin. Käkisalmi, Karels. Karjala or Kägöisalmi) - a city in Russia, administrative center of Priozersk district of Leningrad region. Popular Finnish name - Omenankukkien kaupunki (City of flowering apple trees).

Population: 18,777 (2021 Census).

The city is situated on the Karelian isthmus, at the confluence of the northern arm of the Vuoksa lake in Lake Ladoga. Railway station in the St. Petersburg - Khiytola. 145 km to St. Petersburg.

Korella founded Novgorod in XI-XII centuries on the site of an old Karelian villages. The fortified town, which became a powerful outpost of Novgorod on the Karelian Isthmus, to deter aggression Swedes. Before the capture of the city by the Swedes in 1611, the city was called Korela, from 1611 to 1918 - Swedish name Kexholm (Kukushkin island), however in the Russian documents 1875-1920 years he was held under the name Korella. In 1918 the town became a part of Finland called Käkisalmi (Kukushkin Strait), after the Russo-Finnish war in 1940 was returned to the name Kexholm, 1948 renamed Priozersk.
