On May 21 2000, a British Aerospace Jetstream 31, on a chartered flight from Atlantic City to Wilkes-Barre, crashed on this spot in Bear Creek Township. The crash killed both pilots and all 17 passengers. Probable cause was determined to be lack of fuel.
