Its holkar's hunting house and now forest century in indoreThe place once had a huge population of tigers, leopards and deer, serving as a hunting ground for the royal family of the Holkars. A 'shikargah' was also built for the royal family members to stay in 1905. It is situated about 2.5 km form the entrance of the sanctuary.
Tourists have to walk the steep path to reach the place. Tourists complained that while it was a tiring journey, basic amenities like drinking water and toilets were not available. A water tank was located on the way but it did not have water. "I had come to see the monument situated at the top, but have decided to return midway. I have a baby with me, but there is no place nearby from where I can get water for him," complained a tourist. A group of girls who had come to visit the place complained that there were hardly any security personnel along the 2.5-km stretch.
Entry of people inside the 'shikargah' is prohibited. A guard deployed there explained that tourists had started writing on the walls and were defacing them, after which the authorities decided to close it. Incidentally, some tourists were also seen venturing into the restricted areas of the forest.
However, on the positive side, unlike other places this sanctuary was clean. No trace of plastic bottles or chocolate wrappers could be seen anywhere. "We make sure that the place remains clean. There are other problems here as well.
