It's named after the "ugong" (rumble) caused by the deep rumbling sound of the strong current of its creek and the loud rumbling noise caused by the horses of Spanish cavaliers at night during the Spanish Colonial Period. Famous landmarks include the San Juan dela Cruz Parish Church. It is known for its puto and palabok.
