This is the approximate location of Wunder (Utah) Beach at Thon My Thuy. Wunder Beach was a very important resupply port for the US Army from March to October 1968. In addition to using landing craft that could move supplies directly from ships onto the beach, an 800 foot floating dock extending out into the ocean was also constructed at the beach. The US Army Corps of Engineers (in particular the 14th Engineer Battalion and Earthmoving Platoon/Company C/589th Engineer Battalion) improved the old French road from the beach, improved the dirt road and constructed bridges to Hai Lang, and constructed sand-cement roads around the beach. By the time Operation Pegasus (relief of US Marines at Khe Sanh)started during the first week of April, over one thousand tons of supplies were being transported daily from the beach.
