A volcanic lake (4988 m). To its east is a low (5017 m) pass (la)over which a track leads to Chumathang on the Leh - Mahe road. From mahe a road goes SE to Tsomoriri and another heads east to Demchog via Nyoma- the Changthang sub division hqrs town of about 110 houses. The photographs are of the Lake and the pass.
The north of the lake is the Base Camp for the 6529 m high Chaluka or Chalunka peak. Perhaps the only Base Camp of 6000 m+ peak which can be driven to!
The rather rough road of about 60 kms length carries on to Chushul from here.
I was wrong in calling it Mirap Tso, which is a bit ahead from here.
