Kossuth statue, created by Szigfrid Pongrácz and Ede Margó (1914), was erected in memory of the meeting held in the Great Reformed Church in 1849, assembly before which Kossuth has read the Declaration of Independence.
Emerging from the surface cover of the square in front of the group is the creation of Tibor Cs. Uhrin, which represents the coat of arms of the city of Debrecen made of colourful mosaic pieces.
