Tierra Amarilla is a small unincorporated town near the Carson National Forest in the northern part of the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is the county seat of Rio Arriba County. The population was estimated to be 3,443 in 2007.

It is a spectacular 80 mile drive from Taos to Tierra Amarilla through Carson National Forest.
